James Garrovillas

About The Illustrator…James Garrovillas, 32, is the illustrator for The I AM Foundation’s I Am Wealthy! Building Your Friendship With Money. He has been living in San Diego, CA since he was 5 years old. He was born in the Philippines and naturalized in Iraq as one of the few who have gained citizenship on foreign soil. James is a local artist that has taken on projects that range anywhere from murals, political cartoons, comic books, pinup posters, caricatures, ads, graphic art, labels, portraits and design. His art experience comes as second nature due to a lack of a formal education. He draws every day to improve his skills through practice.

James is currently a soldier in the Army Reserves and is attending school at Platt College, San Diego; one of the sponsors for the I Am Wealthy! book. He is currently in school there to learn graphic art, as a start, but he intends to learn more about fine arts. He has worked as a graphic artist for Whole Foods Markets for 4 years and has also held a 3-month job at the San Diego Zoo as a caricature artist. James has been published in local newspapers such as, “The La Jolla Citizen,” “The Imperial Beach Citizen” and the “The San Diego Comicon Souvenir Book.”
