We are so excited to share with you about The I AM Foundation's latest mission to Tennessee and the Gulf States. In October, we gifted over 7,500 books and teddy bears to children and teachers. On the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina we are letting children and families know they have not been forgotten. This book gifting mission is about supporting the children in the Gulf States whose families are in the lowest economic areas and was a great success!
Statistics show that 61% of children from low income families do not own books at home. This means no reading at night or in the morning. Life for parents is more about providing a home, food and transportation. Books are at the bottom of the families list, not in terms of need, but in terms of priority.

The I AM Team included Jason Dean, restaurateur and owner of Cafe One Three in San Diego (Jason is a Jackson, Tennessee native), I AM Advisory Board Member; Jeff Goonewardena, Consul General for Sri Lanka to Venezuela and Colombia, Vice President, Dr. Marilyn Powers and The I AM Foundation Founder Steve Viglione. Mr. Goonewardena is inviting the Congressmen and women of TN, MS and LA to join us on this mission. Jeff recently met with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (pictured above) and Former President Bill Clinton (pictured below) and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to gift them each an I AM! Affirmation Book and let them know about the book gifting missions.
